What is Sezzle?

Sezzle is a payment solution that empowers you to “Shop Now and Pay Later” with simple interest-free installment plans. We break down purchases into four smaller payments spread over six weeks. 25% is due at the time of the transaction, with the remaining 75% due across three easy payments scheduled every two weeks.

When you complete a purchase with Sezzle, the merchant ships your product immediately. You get to enjoy the item before you finish paying for it!

Sezzle automates the repayments from your payment method on file. You always have the option of paying off your purchase early by signing into your User Dashboard.

How does Sezzle work?

Sezzle is a payment solution that empowers you to “Shop Now and Pay Later” with simple interest-free installment plans. Your purchase is broken down into four smaller payments spread over six weeks. 25% is due at the time of the transaction, with the remaining 75% due across three easy payments scheduled every two weeks.

Returning customers simply need to log in, while first-timers need to provide their payment details like usual. After checking out, the merchant will ship you your purchase! You can always log in to your Sezzle account to check your payment schedule and make an early payment. Otherwise, we will take the payments as scheduled.

Please note: Sezzle doesn’t approve 100% of orders.

When determining which orders to approve, we consider a number of different factors. For example, the longer you have been a shopper with Sezzle and the more orders you have successfully repaid, the more likely you will be able to spend more.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Do you have sufficient funds available - generally we look to see that you have 25% of the order available to spend
  • Length of time you have been using Sezzle - it’ll be more restrictive during the first 6 weeks
  • The amount you have to repay on previous orders - it may help to pay some off (not a guarantee)
  • The value of the order you are trying to place, it may help to reduce the value of your shopping cart (not a guarantee)
  • Adding a credit card may increase your spending power (not a guarantee)
  • The number of orders you currently have ‘open’ with us (not a guarantee)
Who can use Sezzle?

To use Sezzle, you must

  • Be 18 years or older (19 years or older in Alabama or if you are a ward of the state in Nebraska)
  • Have a valid U.S. mobile number and email address

Sezzle's extended payment product does not qualify as a credit product per Reg Z, which means there is no "hard credit" check typically associated with credit products.

Where can I use Sezzle?

. We are busy adding multiple retailers per day, so check back often as the list of available shops is growing quickly.

If you’d like to see Sezzle available at other stores, tag us in their latest Instagram post (“Please add @sezzle!”) and we’ll get on the case. That will also let the retailer know you want to see us in their store.

How do I sign up?

There are two ways to sign up for Sezzle:

When do I make my first payment?

You pay 25% of the total at the time of purchase.

Sezzle says the payments are interest-free. What’s the catch?

No catch. Sezzle is completely interest-free for shoppers. Merchants pay Sezzle a fee for each transaction so that we can help you Shop Now and Pay Later.

The only fees you could potentially incur are failed payment fees and late payment fees. If your scheduled payment fails to process, you will be charged a $10 failed payment fee. We do our best to prevent this from happening by sending email and text reminders.

Rescheduled payments will incur a $5 late payment fee.

Does Sezzle perform a credit check?

Sezzle's extended payment option not qualify as a credit product per Reg Z, however we still pull your credit score as part of our risk check. Don't worry, this check won't have a negative impact, because we're not a credit product per Reg Z. This is considered a 'soft check' of credit. We use your credit information to help approve you for Sezzle, verify your identity and reduce fraud.

Does Sezzle report to credit bureaus?

We will be exploring this option in our future, but we currently don't report.

What is the checkout process like with Sezzle?

It’s fast and easy. Simply select Sezzle as your payment method during checkout. You’ll be asked to provide some basic information about yourself. We will secure the checkout using a one-time password that is sent via SMS text to the mobile number you provide. You will then be asked to select and login to your bank as the final step in our checkout. The entire process should take under 2 minutes for first time Sezzle users. Our secure checkout takes a few seconds to complete for our regular users.

Why was my purchase with Sezzle not approved?

While we strive to offer all applicants an installment plan with Sezzle, we simply aren’t able to approve every application. If we aren’t able to approve your application, we will immediately notify you of our decision.

We completely understand the frustration involved in not knowing exactly how much you can spend or how many active orders you can have. However, our rules and approval process help Sezzle responsibly offer a completely free service to our shoppers.

Is Sezzle secure?

We believe security is critically important. We undergo quarterly scans and yearly audits for the highest level of compliance in the Payment Card Industry (PCI) to ensure that your data is safely stored in our systems. We are currently certified at the top level of compliance - PCI Level 1.
